Electronic Systems Engineer - Cambridgeshire, East Anglia
Our Client designs, develops and delivers electrical and electronics control systems development for a number of world leading companies who design, develop and manufacture engines for a number of industries. You will join the Core Engine Systems team in the role of Core Engine System Hardware Lead and work primarily on the design and development of the electronic and electrical hardware system for the 1 litre per cylinder engine range. Currently, there are a number of active New Product Introduction programs underway driven by emissions legislation for the developed markets and market growth in the developing world. The Role: Interaction with electronic system and engine development engineers within a CPPD environment to develop and document the overall system hardware architecture Development of specifications for electrical and electronic components and liaison with component development engineers to ensure delivery to time, cost and quality targets Creation and maintenance of the electronic system hardware bill of material within the product configuration management system & management of hardware drawing releases Verification and Validation planning through use of FMEA tools Monitoring of validation testing and investigation and resolution of issues Supporting troubleshooting of hardware issues on engine Reporting APQP status for all system hardware components Providing technical leadership and work direction for a small team of engineers (2-3) working on system hardware development Requirements: This is a first level technical leadership position and would suit graduates with 3 years of experience of electrical/electronic component or system development Good technical degree preferred (in mechanical, electronic, electrical, control systems or automotive engineering) though other qualifications / experience will be considered Good understanding of diesel engine technology, including electronic control systems and common rail fuel systems Experience of writing technical documents / requirements / test plans etc preferred Familiarity with automotive development processes e.g. FMEA, APQP Experience of using CAD system (preferably Pro-Engineer) and/or Product Data Management systems Experience of running / troubleshooting engine systems, particularly electronics related preferred Strong interest in engine control system development, particularly for off-highway applications Good communication skills, self-motivated, strong team player Excellent human relations and communications skills are necessary |
